Compliance Agreement
This notice is given by the Commissioner of Canada Elections, as required by section 521 of the Canada Elections Act, S.C. 2000, c. 9.
On December 28, 2001, the Commissioner of Canada Elections, pursuant to section 517 of the Canada Elections Act, S.C. 2000, c. 9, entered into a compliance agreement with the contracting party, candidate in the electoral district of Brampton West–Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
In this agreement, the contracting party admits that he published in the November 19, 2000 issue of The Brampton Guardian newspaper, election advertising without his official agent's authorization appearing thereon, as required under section 320 of the Canada Elections Act, although the expense for such advertising was fully reported in his Electoral Campaign Return.
In summary, the compliance agreement required the contracting party to:
- acknowledge the statutory obligation with respect to the requirement to include his official agent's authorization on election advertising;
- admit the truth of the facts and his responsibility for the omission on the election advertising on November 19, 2000; and
- undertake to henceforth respect this obligation.
