As a candidate for the New Democratic Party of Canada in the electoral district of Surrey—Newton during the 43rd federal general election held on October 21, 2019, Harjit Singh Gill was required, by virtue of subsection 477.59(8) of the Act, to provide his official agent with the required declaration that the Candidate’s Electoral Campaign Return (Return) was complete and accurate within four months after polling day. This declaration was needed so that his official agent could submit the Return to the Chief Electoral Officer, as required by subsection 477.59(7) of the Act.

In this instance, the deadline to provide the Return was June 30, 2020.
