Key facts of violation
As the nomination contestant for the Liberal Party of Canada in the electoral district of Nunavut during the 2019 nomination campaign, Megan Pizzo Lyall was required, by virtue of section 476.6 of the Act, to appoint a replacement financial agent without delay upon the resignation of her financial agent.
The OCCE investigator confirmed with Megan Pizzo Lyall that her financial agent had formally resigned and informed her that she needed to appoint a replacement financial agent. Elections Canada's records confirm that, as of October 28, 2021, a replacement financial agent has not been appointed. There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Megan Pizzo Lyall failed to appoint a replacement financial agent, as required by section 476.6.
