Key facts of violation
As the financial agent for Jordan Ames-Sinclair, a nomination contestant in the 2019 Liberal Party of Canada nomination contest in the electoral district of Regina-Qu’Appelle, Moklesur Rahman was required, by virtue of subsection 476.75(7) of the Canada Elections Act (the Act), to provide the Nomination Contestant’s Campaign Return and other required documents (Return) to the Chief Electoral Officer, within four months after the selection date. The deadline to provide the Return was February 21, 2020.
Elections Canada records confirmed that the Return was provided to the Chief Electoral Officer on August 2, 2021, 528 days after the deadline.
There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Moklesur Rahman failed to provide the Return within four months of the selection date, as required by subsection 476.75(7) of the Act.
