Key facts of violation
As the financial agent for Lesley Barron, a nomination contestant in the 2019 Liberal Party of Canada contest in the electoral district of Wellington–Halton Hills, Simon Barron was required, by virtue of subsection 476.75(1) of the Act, to file the Nomination Contestant's Campaign Return, and provide the required documents (Return) to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). The deadline to submit the Return was July 31, 2019.
Elections Canada's records confirm that as of April 7, 2022, the Return had not been submitted to the CEO.
There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Simon Barron failed to provide the Return, as required by subsection 476.75(1).
