As the official agent for Wasai Rahimi, a New Democratic Party candidate during the 43rd federal general election held on October 21, 2019, Vida Jahandari was required, by virtue of subsection 477.59(1) of the Canada Elections Act (Act), to file the Candidate's Electoral Campaign Return and required documents (Return) to the Chief Electoral Officer, outlining the financing and expenses for the candidate's electoral campaign.

As an extension was granted, the deadline to submit the Return was June 30, 2020. Elections Canada's records confirm that, as of July 13, 2022, the Return had not been submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer.

There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Vida Jahandari continues to be in default of providing the Return as required by subsection 477.59(1) of the Act.
