Key facts of violation

As the official agent for the electoral campaign of Dean Maher, a Green Party of Canada candidate during the 43rd federal general election held on October 21, 2019, Donald Wesley was required, under subsection 477.59(7) of the Act, to file the Candidate's Electoral Campaign Return (Return) within four months after polling day. An extension of the filing deadline was requested and granted by the Chief Electoral Officer until June 30, 2020.

Elections Canada confirmed that the Return was submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer on January 5, 2021, 189 days past its deadline. There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Donald Wesley contravened subsection 477.59(7).
