Key facts of violation
As the financial agent for Linda McCurdy, a Liberal Party of Canada contestant in the electoral district of Windsor–Tecumseh, during the 2019 nomination campaign, Ian Murphy was required, by virtue of subsection 476.75(1) of the Act, to file the Nomination Contestant's Campaign Return (Return), and provide the required documents. The deadline to submit the Return was February 21, 2020.
Elections Canada records confirm that as of August 24, 2021, the Return had not been submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer. There are therefore reasonable grounds to believe that Ian Murphy failed to provide the Return and required documents, as required by subsection 476.75(1).
