When Should I Complain?

Automated Messages

Generally speaking, the Act does:

  • permit automated messages (eg. calls, texts) made by, or on behalf of, candidates or political parties.

The Act does not:

  • permit messages that falsely claim to originate from Elections Canada or from a political entity or that attempt to mislead or prevent electors from voting. These should be reported immediately.
