When Should I Complain?
Signs on Private Property
Although the Act contains rules against removing or impairing election advertising, owners of private residential property do have a right to control the people and objects entering or placed on their property.
Private property owners who have unwanted signs placed on their lawn may remove the sign themselves.
If you are unsure as to whether or not the sign is on private or public property, you are advised to verify whether the sign is on property that is owned or controlled by a municipality or another public authority before taking action to remove the sign.
