Compliance Agreement
This notice is given by the Commissioner of Canada Elections, pursuant to section 521 of the Canada Elections Act, S.C. 2000, c. 9.
On June 28, 2001, the Commissioner of Canada Elections, pursuant to section 517 of the Canada Elections Act, entered into a compliance agreement with the contracting party, candidate in the electoral district of Brampton Centre, Ontario, Canada.
In this agreement, the contracting party admits that he published on November 19, 2000, an election advertising in The Brampton Guardian newspaper without his official agent's authorization indicated on the advertisement, as required under section 320 of the Canada Elections Act, and so contravened paragraph 495(1)(a) of the Canada Elections Act.
In summary, the compliance agreement required the contracting party to:
- acknowledge the statutory obligation with respect to the requirement to include his official agent's authorization on election advertising;
- admit his responsibility for the omission on the election advertising on November 19, 2000; and
- undertake to henceforth respect this obligation.
